Organizations and individuals all over the world will be planting trees and picking up trash on April 22 in conjunction with Earth Day. This year, Wastequip has launched a virtual campaign to encourage the social conversation around these efforts. Each participant who posts a photo of themselves completing simple actions using #EarthDayWQWay on social media will be recognized by Wastequip with a planted tree in their honor in support of EARTHDAY.ORG’s Canopy Project. These actions include:

  • Plog or Plalk: Pick up litter while jogging/walking
  • Recycle Right: Learn the rules of your community to sustain our world
  • Get Outside: Enjoy nature or plant something green

“At Wastequip, we believe in taking meaningful action,” explained Kristin Kinder, vice president of research and waste stream sustainability for Wastequip. “This year, we wanted to inspire our communities to keep our neighborhoods and waterways clean, plant something green, learn how to recycle right, and most importantly, appreciate nature. While close to home, these actions tie to global environmental challenges.”

In addition to individual participants, Wastequip will honor its more than 2,600 employees in support of EARTHDAY.ORG’s Canopy Project with planted trees across the globe.

Wastequip’s Earth Day campaign is designed to support its corporate responsibility program, CORE, formalized to improve its employees’ lives and the communities in which it operates to maintain a healthy company.
