Acquest International, L.P., a New York-based M&A firm, has served as the exclusive financial advisor to Clean Earth, Inc.’s acquisition of Disposal and Recycling Technologies, Inc. (DART.) Acquest International L.P. advises lower middle market companies in a range of industries, including the waste management and recycling sectors, on mergers and acquisitions.

Headquartered in Detroit, MI, DART has a RCRA Part B Licensed TSDF in Charlotte, NC, as well as a non-hazardous waste facility at its Detroit location. DART’s North Carolina facility features a full-service, on-site treatment plant specializing in processing wastewater contaminated with hazardous substances. DART serves the Southern Region waste and recycling clients with a full range of environmental services including containerized waste processing, bulk waste treatment and disposal, and secure product destruction. DART also provides a full range of environmental services in the Midwest with a waste treatment and ethanol recycling plant located in Detroit, Michigan. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Clean Earth, based in Hatboro, PA, offers tailored recycling and waste disposal solutions that ensure efficiency and safety, as well as US Department of Transportation compliance, thereby minimizing liability exposure to the generators. Clean Earth takes a hands-on, dedicated approach to recycling and beneficially reusing waste that would otherwise go into landfills.

Through its vision to create a better future for its people, partners, and planet, Clean Earth’s mission is to turn specialty waste into recycling opportunities. With 26 facilities throughout the United States, Clean Earth, in 2017 alone, recycled 3.57 million tons of soil and dredged material, 7 million pounds of aerosol products, 2.1 million pounds of metal from aerosols, 5.7 million pounds of electronics, 2.1 million pounds of batteries and 5.8 million pounds of lamps.

Chris Dods, CEO of Clean Earth, said “Since 2005, DART has been a leader in providing hazardous and non-hazardous waste management services in Michigan and Ohio, and more recently in the high growth North Carolina market.”

Pauli Overdorff, Managing Director of Acquest, said “DART is the fourth Clean Earth acquisition this year and the second where Acquest served as advisor: DART follows Clean Earth’s March 2018 acquisition of MKC Enterprises, Inc., near Atlanta.” She added that “Acquest served as advisor to AES Environmental when it was acquired by Clean Earth in 2014, in addition to advising Clean Earth on its acquisition of EWS Alabama in 2016.”

“Acquest has significant experience in the hazardous waste, environmental and industrial services industry,” said Ms. Overdorff, who previously was Chairman and owner of First Response, an environmental and industrial services company in Nashville, TN. “Our senior bankers have spent the majority of their careers as operators. They have a profound understanding of the key value drivers supporting successful waste management and recycling companies across a range of subsectors,” she said.
