Advanced Disposal has created a GoFundMe account to help our 130 team members with their long-term recovery from the damage caused to their homes and lives by Hurricane Dorian. 100% of all donations will go directly to our team members and their families. We have set the goal of raising $130,000, which would provide $1,000 for each team member. The account was launched on Monday, Sept. 9 and we have already raised $32,000+ dollars.
We have 130 fellow team members that live in Freeport, the Bahamas and work at our Pine Ridge Landfill and Hauling Company. This facility is just east of the Grand Bahama Airport, which was decimated by Hurricane Dorian. Fortunately, all have been accounted for, but many have sustained damage to their homes and/or properties. Several team members have damage so extensive that they will have to find a new place to live.
As of yesterday, we have delivered 5,400 lbs. of emergency supplies to our team and have more on the way to support them until the local infrastructure is stabilized. They have a long road ahead of them to rebuild their homes and take care of their families. We will be there to support them. However, they are going to need more help. Any amount is welcomed and appreciated.
