The Electronic Reusing Association (ERA) is a non-profit organization that has been reducing unnecessary electronic waste since 2004. Their mission is to protect the environment and build up communities by repurposing old electronic devices and donating them to organizations in need of funding and support. They have locations in several Canadian cities, including Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, and Vancouver.
In a bid to expand its operations and help people in the United States with electronic recycling, ERA has opened several locations in America, including Seattle, San Jose, Boston, Houston, Chicago, New York, and Vermont.
ERA will collect and recycle a wide range of electronic devices, including desktops, phone systems, computer peripherals, software, laptops, and more. Their process makes it simple for individuals and communities to submit their electronic recycling.
People can either submit their electronic items at donation depots across the United States or schedule a pick-up day. Upon collection, ERA will undergo on-site and off-site data destruction to prevent data from being recovered from old equipment, guaranteeing that all private data is secure.
ERA will then provide charities, non-profit organizations, care facilities, and educational institutions across the country with refurbished electronics for their program. Once the devices are replenished, they will be handed to a charity that requires the equipment.
