Garbage and curbside recycling collection of paper, cardboard, bottles and cans remain on schedule as posted, according to borough officials. But collection of some recyclables has been suspended.

On Saturday, March 21, Gov. Phil Murphy announced that non-essential services must close to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. While garbage collection and recycling is considered essential, there are some exceptions.

Here is the current information regarding garbage and recycling services:

  • Collection of scrap metal and electronics, normally done by appointment, is SUSPENDED until further notice.
  • The Recycling Center is CLOSED starting at Noon on Monday, March 23 until further notice.
  • The Recycling Office may be contacted by phone (201-794-5341) or e-mail ([email protected]).
  • The BCUA Household Hazardous Waste collection on April 5 has been CANCELED.

Garbage and recycling laws are not suspended during this emergency, borough officials said.
