FCC Environmental Services (FCC) started its new contract for the residential and commercial solid waste collection with Hillsborough County on January 31, 2021. FCC was awarded the largest of three zones in Hillsborough County for an initial contract term of eight years and eight months with a potential extension of an additional four years.

The total backlog of the contract with the potential extension is worth about $280 million. The contract will also give FCC one of the only three exclusive franchises to provide commercial collection in the County, which could grow the backlog up to an additional $100 million.

To provide the services to the 110,000 homes plus the commercial activity, FCC has increased its fleet with 96 compressed natural gas trucks and hired over 120 employees. FCC has invested in a new yard that includes a new state of the art CNG station, a fully equipped maintenance building for the CNG trucks, and several admin and break room buildings for the workers.

The contract was awarded at the beginning of June 2021. Again, FCC has demonstrated its great capacity as one of the worlds leaders in waste collection, being able to start the contract successfully on time, with no delays, despite the world crisis of the supply chain.
