Watterson Brands announces g2 revolution’s achievement of two GreenCircle Zero Waste to Landfill certifications for its material handling locations. g2 revolution has been changing the way the world recycles for 14 years by developing innovative, specialty recycling solutions for businesses of all sizes. The company, founded in 2008 by Billy Watterson, has processing facilities in Lake Zurich, Ill. and Findlay, Ohio. GreenCircle Zero Waste to Landfill certification proves that both g2 facilities and g2’s downstream partners, roughly two dozen companies, also demonstrated the ability to divert waste from landfills.

GreenCircle is an internationally recognized third-party certification entity whose evaluation process provides independent assessment that sustainability claims related to an organization’s products and operations are honest, valid, and verified. GreenCircle Certified sets the standard for accuracy and accountability for sustainability-related certifications.

“Many companies try to avoid landfilling end-of-life materials due to corporate sustainability commitments, but they often cannot be assured that the materials they send out for processing do not end up there anyway. At g2 revolution, we pursued this certification so that our customers can have full confidence that if they use us, it will not get buried,” said Scott DeMuth, President of g2 revolution.

To receive certification, g2 revolution went through a rigorous external review process covering all materials it receives from customers, including an additional chain of custody audit of electronics and commingled materials partners, processes, and manufacturing locations. g2’s operations are subject to annual recertification through GreenCircle to maintain zero waste to landfill status.

“We applaud g2 revolution for achieving two GreenCircle Zero Waste to Landfill certifications,” says Tad Radzinski, Certification Officer at GreenCircle. “Our Zero Waste to Landfill certification demonstrates absolute commitment to waste minimization and diversion as it requires 100 percent of waste to be diverted from landfill, making our certification the gold standard in transparency. g2 revolution is a brand you can trust.”

Innovation plays a crucial role in the future of sustainability and the g2 revolution team is focused on working with clients whether their needs are regulatory compliance, cost savings or direct product stewardship. Most recently, g2 revolution developed PPE to Power, a personal protection equipment (PPE) mail back program that handles end-of-life for disposable gloves and masks, face shields, earplugs, Tyvek coats, bouffant caps, and safety glasses. Purchases through g2 revolution programs benefit non-profit organizations providing support and services for the homeless community, environmental preservation organizations, employment for intellectually disabled adults, and food distribution efforts.  For example, through the g2’s “Feed the Future” program, the company has sponsored over 2.1 million meals to those in need.
