Gainsborough Waste has opened a new construction and demolition (C&D) transfer station at its main Houston office location (950 McCarty Road) to better serve the needs of area construction crews. A 2.5-acre transfer station is approved by the TCEQ as a Type V site for C&D dry waste (no food waste). The transfer station is open to the public for construction loads that sort scrap metal, cardboard, concrete, and wood.

The new station is equipped to handle 250 loads per day. An efficient and repeatable process means each dump only requires 4-5 minutes to complete. Gainsborough Waste then sorts the waste to transfer to recycling facilities.

“We are proud that on average only 25 percent of the material ends up in a landfill,” says Donna Hunt, Chief Financial Officer. “Gainsborough Waste is a leader in the reduction of construction waste. This will add to the sustainable landfill footprint for Houston and Harris County.” Disposal fees are:

  • $50 for a pick-up bed
  • $105 for a 12’ trailer
  • $125 for a 14’ trailer
  • $145 for a 16’ trailer

Special rates can be approved for high-volume construction users. Gainsborough Waste also works with third-party haulers for a tipping fee of $10 per cubic yard. The convenient location near I-10 and Highway 90 helps mid-city haulers save time in hectic Houston traffic.
