Downey Ridge Environmental Company, developer of Greasezilla™, announces the addition of industry expert Ken Loucks as a manufacturer’s representative for its FOG (fats, oils & grease) Separation system. In his new role, Loucks will represent and promote Greasezilla with POTWs, wastewater treatment utilities, liquid waste haulers and industrial food processing facilities. His territory includes Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, California, Nevada and Arizona.

Loucks brings a wide breadth of experience in the FOG industry to Greasezilla. After beginning his career in the plumbing industry, Loucks started working with Schier Products Company, a manufacturer of commercial grease interceptors, in 2008. As Loucks helped the manufacturer expand its brand, he started working with pretreatment programs across the country to learn what they do to comply with federal laws and grease abatement. Since that time, Loucks has helped dozens of cities, wastewater utilities and pretreatment programs improve their FOG abatement efforts by developing or updating their FOG control programs.

In 2017, Loucks established IW Consulting Services, LLC, to help jurisdictions update or develop more effective FOG pretreatment ordinances, bylaws and policies. Loucks also educates professionals in FOG program management as well as grease interceptor operation and control strategies. As an advocate for clean technologies and improving FOG management in pretreatment, Loucks created FOG Industry Solutions, an Interceptor Whisperer project, in 2020 to promote technologies that turn the problem of FOG into green and profitable solutions. Greasezilla was a natural fit for this venture.

“Although the industry is doing a much better job capturing grease, it needs a better resolution for handling all the collected grease,” said Ken Loucks, “What struck me about Greasezilla was that it offers a compact, complete processing system that produces usable materials with consistency. I haven’t seen anything else that offers the compact footprint and the variety of alternatives for purchasing, financing, leasing, revenue sharing and other means of acquisition. Then they offer both fixed base and modular systems as well as a resale program for the biofuel generated. Greasezilla has the most progressive ideas and options out there by far, and I’m excited to represent them.”

Greasezilla has the leading, purely ecological processing solution to the overabundance of FOG created from commercial and industrial food production facilities worldwide. The one-of-a-kind system can process up to 20,000 gallons of decanted grease trap waste per day, requiring no additives, additional processing, blending or fossil fuels. After separation has taken place, the Brown Grease, an advanced biofuel (ABF), is pumped into holding tanks. The remaining water content, which is pasteurized and nearly free of all suspended solids, is safe for discharge into a wastewater treatment facility. Greasezilla is highly efficient, extremely profitable to operate and runs off five percent of the ABF it produces, with the balance of the ABF readily sold on the commodity market.

Brian Levine, executive vice president, Greasezilla, said, “We are thrilled to be working with Ken. His vast knowledge and fundamental understanding of FOG management processes and regulations will help Greasezilla reach the people who can benefit the most. Combined with our flexible financing options and scalable system, our hope is that together we can partner with communities to overcome FOG challenges in a practical, cost-effective and eco-friendly way.
