The Illinois Recycling Foundation (IRF) Board of Directors and legislative affiliate, the Illinois Recycling Association (IRA) Board of Directors have named Allessandra A. Kummelehne their new Executive Director. Kummelehne’s background as an executive director and sustainability professional, combined with a passion for driving sustainability initiatives within higher education, non-profits, and municipalities, will help further advance the mission of the IRF and IRA to encourage the responsible use of resources by promoting Waste

Under the leadership and direction of Ms. Kummelehne, the IRF and IRA will continue to:

  • Provide educational leadership through forums, programs, and materials for the exchange of information and ideas;
  • Promote waste reduction, re-use and recycling through public education; and
  • Promote market development that encourages sound recycling and composting initiatives.
  • Be the voice for the recycling community on state legislative and policy matters.

“It is a privilege to have been selected as the new Executive Director for IRF and IRA. The essence of these organizations and their joint mission is, in my opinion, the innovative collaboration needed to advance waste reduction strategies within the state” says Kummelehne. She continued saying, “I am honored to be a part of these organizations and thrilled to join at a time while we are planning for the annual IRF Conference to be hosted in Joliet on August 30-31.”

The Illinois Recycling Foundation is proud to bring businesses involved in reuse, recycling and composting together with government, educators and environmentalists for this two-day in person conference, “RECYCLING: The Secret Weapon To Combat Climate Change.” If you are interested in becoming a sponsor or exhibitor, please contact Allessandra Kummelehne at [email protected].
