Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS), the Midwest’s leading independent recycling and waste diversion provider, today announced it has expanded its presence in DuPage County with the Village of Lisle. Effective July 1, 2018, this three-year residential contract for the Village’s nearly 11,000 units includes waste, recycling and yard waste collection services.
LRS increases its footprint into northern Illinois by servicing over 170,000 households, including the City of Wheaton, Highland Park, the Village of Skokie and more. This will be LRS’ 20th exclusive municipal contract.

A partnership with LRS entails outstanding customer service, sustainable practices and innovation,” said LRS’ Managing Partner Joshua B. Connell.
“After a process that included public input through a resident survey, several public meetings and a competitive proposal process, the Village Board is pleased to secure a contract with a reputable and progressive company at a cost savings to Lisle residents,” said Mayor Chris Pecak.
“Lakeshore Recycling Systems’ residential refuse, recycling and yard waste collection program reduces costs for residents, while increasing the services that are offered. The Village looks forward to its partnership with Lakeshore and for the benefit the new contract represents to Lisle residents,” said Village Manager Eric Ertmoed.
The contract with the Village of Lisle strengthens and expands LRS’ geographical foothold in the western suburbs of Chicago. “As LRS continues to grow and thrive, providing innovative and environmentally responsible waste and recycling solutions to our customers and growing communities will remain a top priority,” said LRS’ CEO Alan T. Handley. “Traditionally, other waste haulers make the majority of their profit by owning and operating landfills, rather than recycling and diverting items away from landfills. LRS diverts as much waste as possible from landfills in order to be both sustainable and profitable.”
This is LRS’ second awarded residential municipal addition in 2018 to date, after the Village of Hinckley.
