Meridian Waste Virginia (formerly Container First Services), an integrated, non-hazardous solid waste services company, has made a $5000 donation to assist with maintaining water connectivity for the City of Petersburg residents in peril.

The Mayor and City Council of Petersburg started the Utility Assistance Fund (UAF) in which Meridian Waste Virginia donated $5000 to help residents negatively financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic to keep their water services running in their homes.

“We believe in clean and healthy communities and hope that our financial contributions in these unprecedented times show that we stand behind our communities,” said Meridian Waste Virginia Area President Nathan Geldner. “Water is a basic necessity, and we are humbled to be able to provide this vital resource along with quality solid waste collection services for Petersburg residents.”

Last week, Meridian Waste Virginia donated $4,000 to The Dance Life Company, LLC. Dance Life focuses on providing dance instruction and a creative outlet for young women, the vast majority of whom are minorities from low-income neighborhoods. Donation checks to the UAF were presented during a press conference by the Petersburg Mayor’s Office. Meridian Waste Virginia was represented by Nathan Geldner and Tim Webb.
