Meridian Waste, an integrated, non-hazardous solid waste services company, is pleased to name Derrick Standley as government affairs manager responsible for all local and state governmental collection and disposal contracts as well as development projects within the company’s Missouri operating area, which includes four hauling companies, one MSW landfill, one transfer station and any new expansion regions within the state.

Standley will be responsible for ensuring quality service to 21 current municipal customers and about 100,000 residential customers while also focusing on growing the region’s municipal collection and disposal businesses through identifying local government service opportunities and strengthening relationships with elected officials and staff regarding the environmental services provided by the company. He has more than 27 years of industry experience most recently serving as president of Presidio Environmental and prior to that, vice president of operations and engineering for WCA Waste Corporation.

Standley’s areas of expertise include environmental compliance, government affairs and process improvement.  He holds Environmental Research and Education Foundation National Landfill Operations Certification and Environmental Protection Agency Campus Certified Environmental Specialist. He is currently a member of the Environmental Federation Missouri Association and a recent board member for the Missouri Solid Waste Management Association. He also served on the Missouri Waste Control Coalition for 25 years.
