Meridian Waste, an integrated, non-hazardous solid waste services company, is pleased to name Tom Flannagan as director – Virginia landfills overseeing the company’s two Virginia landfills in Petersburg and Lunenburg, Va.

Flannagan will be responsible for all compliance, safety, operations and budgets for Tri City Regional Landfill and Lunenburg Landfill.  He has more than 22 years of industry experience most recently serving as project director for Charah Solutions (NYSE: CHRA) and prior to that general manager for Advanced Disposal (NYSE: ADSW) leading operations for two landfills in the Midwest region, including the company’s largest landfill in the U.S.

Flannagan’s areas of expertise include environmental compliance, multi-site operations, safety, audits, process optimization and stakeholder relationship building. He is licensed to operate solid waste facilities in four states.  He holds a national certification with Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA), Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO), and Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR), Commonwealth of Virginia, Waste Management Facility Operator License Class II.  In addition, he is a two-time award winner of “Landfill of the Year” for Republic Services, Southern Region at two different facilities.
