NWRA joined other organizations on a letter applauding Representatives Julia Brownley (D-CA), Chellie Pingree (D-ME) and Ann Kuster (D-NH) for introducing the Cultivating Organic Matter through Promotion of Sustainable Techniques (COMPOST) Act in the House and Sen.Cory Booker (D-NJ) for introducing the legislation in the Senate. The legislation would create new United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) grant and loan programs composting infrastructure projects.

“This is important legislation meets the growing demand from individuals and businesses to compost,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “We thank these Congresswomen and Senator Booker for their leadership and urge Congress to pass this legislation.”
