The Connecticut Chapter of the NWRA defeated SB 115, legislation that would have implemented an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program for paper and packaging. “I am pleased that our member companies were able to defeat SB 115,” said Lew Dubuque, Vice President, Northeast Region for NWRA. “The legislation would have increased costs to consumers and totally revamped an existing system that works. Unfortunately, state regulators did not engage the hauling community as part of its stakeholder outreach.”

“I applaud the efforts of our Connecticut chapter for a hard-fought win,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “Our chapters do important work advocating for our industry across the country.”
