Ohio EPA approved a request by Rumpke Waste & Recycling to increase the amount of waste Bond Road Landfill is allowed to accept each day. Bond Road Landfill is located at 11425 Bond Road, Harrison. The 575-acre site straddles the Ohio-Indiana border in southwest Hamilton County. The approved permit allows the landfill to accept up to 1,500 tons of waste per day. The previously approved limit was 100 tons of waste per day. At the new rate of 1,500 tons per day, as currently designed, the landfill will have a lifespan of approximately 12.8 years. This change in waste receipt is below the 4,000 tons per day that the landfill was originally permitted to accept.

Ohio EPA held a public hearing about the request on April 12 and accepted public comments about the request through May 4. The permit and response to public comments are available online. Issuance of final permits may be appealed to the Ohio Environmental Review Appeals Commission (ERAC). Appeals generally must be filed within 30 days of the final action; therefore, anyone considering filing an appeal should contact ERAC at (614) 466-8950 for more information.
