The Product Stewardship Society announced today the 2020 recipient of the Allan K. Fleeger Distinguished Service Award, Jon Hellerstein. He is the second recipient of this award, which was established in 2018 and named after the Society’s first president. It recognizes the invaluable contributions made by a product steward to support the growth and success of the Product Stewardship Society and the product stewardship profession.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to congratulate Jon for this wonderful achievement. Jon’s tireless service to the Society and his invaluable contributions to the development of the product stewardship profession truly exemplifies the spirit of this award. We are grateful for Jon’s service and the impact he has made on the product stewardship profession,” said Lynn L. Bergeson, President of the Product Stewardship Society.

Hellerstein served on the Product Stewardship Society’s Conference Program Committee from 2014–2018 and the Board of Directors from 2016–2019, where he served as a liaison between the Society and the AIHA Stewardship and Sustainability Committee. He currently serves on the Society’s Education Committee, where he develops educational content to support the Certified Professional Product StewardTM (CPPS) credential. Jon Hellerstein is also an author of the Professional Practices of Product Stewardship.

“Jon has been instrumental in establishing and growing the Society,” said Product Stewardship Society member Denese Deeds, who nominated Hellerstein, “I cannot think of anyone more committed to the success of the Product Stewardship Society or more deserving of this award.” Hellerstein will be presented with the Alan K. Fleeger Distinguished Service Award at Virtual PSX 2020, September 15-17, 2020.
