The Product Stewardship Society, the leading organization for product stewardship professionals, officially installed its Board of Directors for the 2021–2022 term on September 30, 2021 during PSX, the Society’s annual conference. The Board is now headed by John Hott, PhD, who ascended as Board president following his two-year term as president-elect. Hott, the director of Global Product Stewardship and Regulatory Affairs at Eastman Chemical Company, succeeds Lynn Bergeson, president 2019–2021. Bergeson will continue to serve as past president on the Board Executive Committee. The third Board officer, Chris Cassell, will remain as secretary and treasurer until his term ends in 2022.

“I am honored to serve as president and look forward to working with our Board colleagues and members to advance the Society and our profession,” said Hott. “We have just completed our new strategic plan and I look forward to us implementing it.” Additionally, Product Stewardship Society member Lesa Rice-Jackson, PhD, CPPS joined the Board as new director. For 2021–2022, she will serve alongside five other directors, whose three-year terms are staggered to ensure that experienced Board members are always present:

  • Kevin Gara, CIH, FAIHA
  • Kevin Kransler, PhD, DABT, CPPS
  • Rebecca Morones, CPPS
  • Lisa Marie Nespoli, CPPS
  • Denise Van Valkenburg, PE, LEED AP

Former director Jim Jones completed his term on the Product Stewardship Society Board of Directors as of the September conference. However, Jones will remain an active volunteer with the Society. “I want to welcome Lesa Rice-Jackson to the Board of Directors. Her expertise and insight will definitely have a positive impact on our work,” said Hott. “I also want to thank Lynn Bergeson for her great leadership during these unprecedented times and recognize Jim Jones for his very significant contributions during his term on the Board.”
