Carolina Waste is now responsible for trash and recycling pickup in Summerville, SC. Republic Services is now handling waste collection in unincorporated parts of Charleston County. "We understand the importance of providing garbage and recycling collection services in a timely manner," said Russell W. Cornette, Jr., Summerville Director of Public Works & Town Engineer. "This is why we have worked very hard to get Carolina Waste to start services even earlier than we expected."

 

Summerville began a temporary contract with Carolina Waste on July 2, one month earlier than originally planned. The company is renting some unmarked trucks to pick up trash until the new full three year contract begins on Aug. 1. Recycling pickup begins in the town on Aug. 1. Only paper and cardboard will be collected. Previously the town offered single-stream recycling service.
