Sunnking, an electronics recycling company with a facility in Whitesboro, NY, has expanded its “e-Scrap for Camp” donation program to Central New York. The announcement marks the first year the recycling program will be available to the region, and the first year it will be open to the general public.

This year’s inaugural Utica fundraiser is open to everyone. No registration is required. Residents can drop off their old electronic devices for FREE during a week-long collection event. Donation drop-off stages will be available at the company’s Whitesboro facility (272 Oriskany Blvd.) from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., starting November 16 – November 20.

The program raises money for Camp Good Days and Special Times, a non-profit organization that aims to improve the quality of life for children, adults, and families whose lives have been affected by cancer. “Camp Good Days is a non-profit that’s near and dear to our hearts, and we’re glad to have found a way to bring a modified version of our program to Utica this year,” said Adam Shine, Vice President of Sunnking. “It’s perfect timing to give people the chance to clear out their house before the holidays and donate those devices to a good cause.”

2020 marks the 10th e-Scrap for Camp fundraising campaign year. Over 4 million lbs. of electronics were collected and recycled during its first nine years in Buffalo and Rochester, resulting in over $100,000 donated to Camp Good Days on behalf of Sunnking.

“The program is super-easy, and it’s a win-win for the community,” said Erin Whyland, CNY Interim Regional Director of Camp Good Days & Special Times. “By donating those old computers and devices, you can directly put a smile on someone’s face, which we all could use right now. Through this program, we are gifted the advantage of raising awareness about our organization and helping the environment.”
