The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) is co-sponsoring the America Recycles Innovation Fair and playing a leading role at the 2019 America Recycles Summit on November 14 and 15, 2019, with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Keep America Beautiful, Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, and The Recycling Partnership. These events are part of America Recycles Day (ARD) 2019 being celebrated nationally.

The week of America Recycles Day (ARD) is an important opportunity for organizations involved in the recycling and materials management industries to come together. Many organizations use this time to celebrate and promote the United States’ recycling system and have planned events during this week. Due to the major changes occurring within the recycling system, this year’s ARD events are focused on ensuring the sustainable future of American recycling.

The America Recycles Innovation Fair will occur on November 14, 2019, at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC from 1:00 – 6:00 PM ET. The free Innovation Fair is designed to connect investors with recycling innovators – helping to spur market development and adoption of new technologies to increase recycling rates as well as create new products comprised of post-recycled content. Nearly 40 exhibitors will be showcasing new recyclable products, goods made from recycled content, the latest in recycling and manufacturing research, education and outreach, and exciting new technologies that are advancing recycling today and into the future. This event is open to the press and the public.

A separate reception on November 14, 2019, hosted by Keep America Beautiful will occur from 4:00 – 6:00 PM ET also at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.

The 2019 America Recycles Summit will reconvene the organizations that signed the America Recycles Day Pledge in 2018 to introduce the Framework to Advance the U.S. Recycling System and exchange ideas on additional actions that are needed to improve recycling in America. EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler will join the nearly 200 organizations that have now signed onto the pledge to commit to continue working together to build on their successes and implement the national framework. SWANA Executive Director and CEO David Biderman will be a panelist at this event. The 2019 Summit will occur on November 15, 2019, in EPA’s William Jefferson Clinton East Building from 10:00 – 1:00 PM ET. This event is open to the press.

The Summit will be preceded by a Recycling Roundtable with Administrator Wheeler and recycling stakeholders, including Biderman, to discuss the issues and opportunities facing American recycling in further detail.

These events, as well as other ARD messaging, will be promoted throughout the week on social media using #AmericaRecycles and #RecycleRight.
