SWANApalooza is SWANA’s premier technical conference showcasing technologies and solutions to transform waste into a resource. This four-day technical gathering takes place March 23 – 26, in Atlanta, GA, and offers participants the opportunity to dive deeply into the industry’s biggest challenges, learn best practices and cultivate a high-impact network.

SWANA’s Young Professionals group (YPs) is made up of individuals in the solid waste industry who are 35 years or younger. SWANA recognizes that this special group represents the future of the solid waste industry and gives YPs a discounted conference pass. Join participants at the Party on the Roof at Ponce, the biggest networking event of the week, hosted by SWANA’s Georgia Chapter. Held atop Atlanta’s Ponce City Market, the magnificent city views, midway games, miniature golf, and more provide the perfect atmosphere for a night full of mingling, connecting and developing your network.

Engage your peers in a fun, laid-back setting with SWANA social events. This year, SWANA is headed to a shooting range with clay targets. Tom Lowe Shooting Grounds is a publicly owned facility constructed on a closed landfill and known for hosting the 1996 Summer Olympics shooting event. A unique experience you do not want to miss!

Complete your SWANApalooza experience by participating in one of the tours being hosted in the Atlanta area. Tour options include:
• Technology and Disposal Tour
o Participants will tour the following facilities at the Seminole Road Landfill in Dekalb County: Renewable Fuel Facility, Green Energy Facility, Composting Area, Recycling Area, New Cell Construction Area.
• Waste Reduction and Reuse Tour
o Visit three facilities that encourage waste reduction and reuse, including Atlanta CHaRM, Lifecycle and re:loom.
• Recycling Tour
o Explore Pratt Industries Recovered Material Processing Facility. Pratt’s recycling subsidiary, Pratt Recycling, Inc., works with communities and businesses across America to maximize landfill diversion by “harvesting the urban forest.” The rapidly-expanding division has recycling and recovery facilities in eight states—and their operational footprint stretches from New York to California.

• Waste Conversion and Energy Tour
o Nexus Fuels, LLC is a waste management and energy production company that has developed a commercial-scale process operating today for converting waste plastics into feedstocks for plastics production and fuels, which can be further refined into a full range of products. Nexus has engineered a process that is economical, scalable, versatile and environmentally positive.
