Tetra Tech, Inc. announces that Debra Darby, CCP, TRUE Advisor, Tetra Tech Manager of Organics Sustainability Solutions, has been named chair of the Compost Research & Education Foundation’s (CREF) newly formed Education Committee, which oversees CREF’s current training and educational programs and plans additional future educational opportunities.

“Encouraging more educational opportunities is a core focus of CREF,” said Ginny Black, CREF Board of Trustee Chair. “Starting the new education committee, chaired by Debra Darby, is going to allow the Foundation to grow and expand its trainings, courses and other educational programs. The CREF Board of Trustees are thrilled to see the initiation of this new committee, chaired by someone with so much experience and knowledge about the compost industry.”

“Education and research on composting is so important given the explosive growth of organics management for compost or renewable energy we are seeing across the solid waste industry, in addition to new state bans and regulations on organics,” said Darby. “It is essential that we have a focal point around education and training and CREF is the perfect organization to provide that educational leadership role.”
