The Detachable Container Association (DCA) Board of Directors has established the Mickey & Ellen Flood Scholarship. The new scholarship program is aimed at benefitting National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) member company employees and their dependents through the Women’s Council Scholarship.

The Mickey & Ellen Flood Scholarship was established not only to honor the memory of Mickey’s numerous contributions to the waste and recycling industry but also to honor Ellen Flood as cofounder of the Women’s Council. Above all other pursuits, Mickey valued education, and it is our hope that this scholarship has enormous potential to initiate change through education that will play an important role in shaping the world’s future.

“The NWRA Women’s Council is pleased to join with The Detachable Container Association to honor the legacy of Mickey and Ellen Flood,” said Peggy Macenas, NWRA regional vice president and Women’s Council director. “We look forward to supporting the work Mickey and Ellen started to expand educational opportunities for others.”

Funding for the scholarship will be made by generous donations from DCA and NWRA members and be granted annually by the Women’s Council through a fund within the DCA, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. The DCA Board of Directors will provide a 100 percent matching gift for the first donations received up to $25,000.
