The City of Atlanta Department of Public Works, in partnership with Atlanta Public Schools, Keep Atlanta Beautiful, Cartlanta and Recycling Perks announced today the launch of the Recycling Perks Creative Art Challenge. The Challenge, a citywide art contest, invites students ages 4 to 18 to use their creativity to promote recycling education in Atlanta. “Recycling for the future lies on every shoulder, from government and corporations, to households and schools,” said Commissioner Richard Mendoza, Department of Public Works. “The Recycling Perks Creative Art Challenge uses creative expression as a way to reach, educate and encourage Atlanta residents to recycle.”

The Recycling Perks Creative Art Challenge is now underway and all artwork entries must be submitted by September 23, 2016 at 5 p.m. The theme of all artistic submissions must promote recycling education. Students are allowed to submit more than one design, and must provide a digital version or a photo of the artwork along with the entry agreement signed by their parents. Submissions and questions can be emailed to [email protected]. Winning candidates will be notified by November 4, 2016 and will have the opportunity to receive prizes, as well as have their artwork displayed on the side of the city’s recycling trucks, on the front of Atlanta fire stations, recreation centers and at various Atlanta Public Schools.
