The City of Chicago says, changing its garbage collection system is saving it a lot of money. Instead of collecting by ward, the city has been collecting by grid for the past four years.

The system requires fewer garbage trucks, and less spending on gas and maintenance. Altogether, the city says the new system has saved it more than $30 million.
