Gatehouse Purchasing, a national purchasing organization serving independent waste, recycling and heavy-duty fleet operators with exclusive national account pricing and purchasing solutions, announced the addition of Scott Whetzal as West Region Sales Manager.
In his new role, Whetzal will support Gatehouse members throughout the western United States, helping independent haulers identify opportunities to reduce operating costs across key purchasing categories while strengthening relationships with supplier partners throughout the region.
Whetzal brings more than two decades of experience in the waste and recycling industry. He began his career in 2002 with McNeilus as a Branch Manager, where he developed extensive experience in collection and construction equipment, fleet operations, customer support, and equipment sales and service. In 2009, he joined the Curotto-Can/Heil Division of Environmental Solutions Group in a senior management role, working closely with waste operators throughout the United States. He later continued serving the industry with Heil Equipment Dealers, where he spent several years helping customers throughout the Greater Chicago area evaluate equipment investments and improve operational performance. After relocating to Denver, Colorado in 2023, Whetzal expanded his network reach throughout the western United States, positioning him well to support Gatehouse’s continued growth across the region.
“Scott has spent his career building trusted relationships while helping independent waste and recycling companies make smarter equipment investments and strengthen their fleet operations,” said Cassidy Brauns, President and Founder of Gatehouse Purchasing. “He understands the people, the equipment, and the challenges independent haulers face because he’s lived it for more than 20 years. More importantly, his experience has reinforced the same belief that drives Gatehouse: independent operators deserve access to the same purchasing advantages as the industry’s largest organizations. As we continue expanding our presence across the country, Scott’s industry knowledge and longstanding relationships will be a tremendous asset to our Members and Preferred Partners alike”
“Throughout my career, I’ve worked with some incredible people across this industry,” said Whetzal. “What attracted me to Gatehouse is the mission. Independent haulers are the backbone of many communities, and helping them strengthen their competitive position is something I believe in. I’m excited to get to work and support our members across the country.”
