WASTECON is just around the corner! The 52nd annual SWANA conference and trade show will be held just outside Dallas, TX at the fabulous Gaylord Texan from August 26 – 28. WASTECON brings you the best the waste and recycling industry has to offer and since the show is in Texas, naturally everything will be bigger and better than ever. From informative sessions that cover topics like safety, energy from waste, landfill management, recycling, financial planning and more, to multiple networking opportunities throughout the event, like the golf tournament, technical tours, annual awards breakfast and the opening reception, you will be sure to find a wealth of information that will fit your organization’s agenda as well as reconnect with people in the industry. New ideas will challenge your thinking and encourage you to learn more about the constant changes that are going on everyday in your profession.

WASTECON Highlights

Training

SWANA offers specialized training on several subjects unique to the waste and recycling industry. Take advantage of any of the special registration packages that combine an all-day training course with a few days to attend the exhibit hall and technical sessions as well, in order to give you a robust conference experience. In addition, you can gain CEUs by attending the free technical sessions on current topics selected by your peers to address problems and questions relevant to the industry.

Mega Sessions

Mega Sessions were a hit at WASTECON 2013 and they’ll be back again this year in addition to the technical session tracks. Today, more than ever, solid waste managers oversee many different aspects of their solid waste operations. In these interactive Mega Sessions, the sky is the limit as attendees explore some of today’s most pressing issues.

Safety Summit

WASTECON’s Safety Summit offers five sessions to help you identify valuable resources for keeping employees healthy and safe, including the cost benefits, creating and maintaining a safety culture and lagging to leading indicators.

Concurrent Technical Sessions

Select from dozens of technical sessions offered at WASTECON featuring presentations speaking to at least “50 shades of green” topics, from the greening of large cities in the southwest or implementing a sustainable materials management program, to engaging your employees to be on board with your green initiatives.

Young Professionals

If you are a young professional (YP)—35 and younger—who represents the future of the solid waste industry, you can experience all of these, while also gathering with other YPs for special events and networking opportunities—and at special rates, too. At the YP Networking Mentoring Event attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the SWANA YP group, expand their professional networks, seek out mentoring partnerships, make new friends and share their ideas and goals-all in an enjoyable social environment.

Break Zone—Hosted by SWANA’s International Board Members and Staff

While touring the Exhibit Hall, stop by the Break Zone for a chance to talk with SWANA staff and leadership, grab a beverage or quick snack, check your email, or just relax on the comfiest couch on the show floor.

With all of these great offerings at a great venue, WASTECON is an excellent opportunity to learn, network and share experience with fellow peers in the waste and recycling industry. We hope to see you there!
