Gershman, Brickner & Bratton, Inc. (GBB) announces that Ljupka Arsova, who joined the firm in 2012, has been promoted to the position of Senior Consultant. With over 8 years of experience in the solid waste management industry, she specializes in anaerobic digestion and advanced technologies for processing organic and mixed solid waste. Her experience goes beyond the U.S. borders in assisting public and private clients through strategic, technical and economic feasibility analysis; feedstock availability projections; and supporting procurement processes. For private-sector clients, she has completed due diligence for projects and technologies investment, market research studies for private companies considering emerging technologies, and assisted in strategic development of project proposals. “Ljupka is responsible for overseeing GBB’s comprehensive and unique database of conversion technologies on both U.S. and worldwide markets and has become, over the years, a key GBB go-to expert on especially anaerobic digestion and pyrolysis technologies and projects,” said Harvey Gershman, GBB President. “Her passion for sustainability issues, along with her versatility and high level of motivation make her a great asset for both GBB and our clients.”

“The ability to work closely with GBB clients to help them evaluate and develop sustainable and economically-viable programs and projects is very rewarding,” said Arsova, “and, I am very excited to further advance my contribution with GBB both with clients and with business development efforts.” Prior to joining GBB, she was a Project Manager and Research Associate at Columbia University’s Earth Engineering Center, where she worked on emerging solid waste management technologies and practices for material and energy recovery from different waste streams. As part of her research for her master’s degree, she worked on a novel approach for food waste processing currently pending patent approval. Previous experience also includes being Program Manager for sustainable innovations in the informal waste management sector for the Cason Family Foundation at the Clinton Global Initiative, and an Associate Engineer for waste management and environmental services for Dekonta, in Serbia. Ms. Arsova is a graduate of Columbia University with a Master of Science degree in Earth and Environmental Engineering. She also earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees, in Ecology and Environmental Protection, from the University of Belgrade, Serbia, in addition to a Young Master Degree in Sustainable Development, from Lund University in Sweden. Her activities and honors include being an active member of the Solid Waste Association of North America and the International Solid Waste Association, a Research Associate of the Earth Engineering Center at Columbia University, and a Waste-to-Energy Research and Technology Council Fellowship Recipient (2008-2010).
