What began five years ago as a simple neighborhood cleanup has become something much bigger: a community tradition that brings neighbors together, helps protect the environment, and keeps Roseville looking its best.
This spring, Environmental Utilities and the Roseville Coalition of Neighborhood Associations (RCONA) welcomed a record 2,191 vehicles across four neighborhood cleanup events, giving residents a convenient way to dispose of items such as old furniture, appliances and other bulky household waste that don’t fit in their regular collection bins.
Together, staff, residents, and volunteers created an impact:
- 166.83 tons of garbage collected—roughly the weight of 14 full-size school buses
- 11.4 tons of electronic waste collected for proper recycling
- 3.11 tons of mattresses diverted from the landfill
- 696 volunteer hours donated to support the events
Participation has continued to grow each year, increasing from 1,374 vehicles in 2023 to 1,569 in 2024, 1,802 in 2025, and now 2,191 in 2026. The St. John’s neighborhood cleanup welcomed 604 vehicles, the highest attendance ever recorded at a single cleanup event.
“These events are about more than getting rid of unwanted items,” said Brian Jones, Waste Services Superintendent. “They give residents an easy way to take pride in their neighborhoods, reduce illegal dumping, and work together to keep Roseville clean. The growing participation shows just how much our community values this service.”
