Knowing the signs to look for to spot a distracted driver can help you avoid a wreck and minimize the severity of an accident.

  1. Drifting or swerving from a lane
  2. Sudden breaking in reaction to normal traffic stops
  3. Running red lights or stop signs
  4. Following too closely
  5. Stopping longer than necessary at traffic stops
  6. Driving much slower or faster than normal traffic conditions
  7. Vehicle is full of passengers (especially kids)
  8. Driver is looking around, moving head rapidly (they’re lost)
  9. Driver’s head is looking down rapidly (texting)
  10. Driver’s hand is up to the side of their head (talking on their phone)

Here’s 3 tips to prevent a crash:

  1. Look inside the other vehicle and watch for warning signs
  2. Slow down and stay farther away, so you can maneuver, if needed
  3. ALWAYS EXPECT THE OTHER DRIVER TO DO THE UNEXPECTED
