Staples introduces its first free backpack and school-supply recycling, in partnership with Close The Loop. They’ve expanded their extensive recycling program to include backpacks and a variety of school supplies, solidifying their commitment to sustainability and customer convenience.  

The best part? You can earn $10 off $30 in-store when you recycle – perfect for checking off your back-to-school shopping list later this summer. 

Backpack and School Supply Recycling Program  

  • What is it:   
    • Staples just introduced its first backpack and school supply recycling program, adding to the list of already expansive products accepted within their free recycling program 
    • In partnership with Close The Loop, Staples is one of the only retailers in America where you can recycle your backpacks and school supplies for free, making a significant impact on our environment. 
  • Products accepted for free backpack and school-supply recycling:
    • Backpacks
    • Lunch bags
    • Pencil pouches (soft and hard case)
    • Writing instruments (pens, markers, pencils, crayons, highlighters)
    • Rulers and similar items (protractors, triangles, etc. – wood, plastic, metal)
    • Glue sticks and empty glue bottles
    • Tech (calculators, headphones, ear buds, cables, USBs, etc.)
    • Binders (regular and zipper – paper must be removed)
    • ** Sharp cutting instruments and other like items (i.e., scissors, Xacto knives) are NOT included
