The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) announces the recipients of the 2015 Professional Achievement Awards. SWANA’s Professional Achievement Awards Program was established more than a decade ago to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the solid waste management profession through the course of their careers. Each year, individuals are nominated by Chapter, Members and staff for several awards. The Life Member Award and the Robert L. Lawrence Distinguished Service Award are among the highest honors in the solid waste industry. The Life Member Award is given to a recipient who has demonstrated their commitment to SWANA and its chapters, and superior service to his or her employer. The award may only be given annually to one individual. However, an additional award may be given to the Association’s outgoing President if it applies. This year’s honorees are John H. Skinner, former executive director and CEO of SWANA and Robert “Bob” Hauser, former solid waste director of Pinellas County, Florida. The Robert L. Lawrence Distinguished Service Award recognizes a SWANA member or non-member who, by his or her service to the municipal solid waste management field, has demonstrated meritorious consideration. David Ross, former senior vice president for SCS Engineers is the recipient of this year’s Robert L. Lawrence Distinguished Service Award.

“SWANA is proud to recognize Bob Hauser, David Ross and John Skinner as the 2015 Professional Achievement Award Winners,” said SWANA Executive Director and CEO David Biderman. “Through their outstanding accomplishments spanning several decades, these individuals have dedicated their careers to advance the solid waste profession across North America.” The recipients of this year’s awards will be recognized at SWANA’s annual WASTECON® conference in Orlando, Florida, on Tuesday, August 25, 2015.
