The Washington State Recycling Association (WSRA) is partnering with Peter Donaldson of Sustainability Ambassadors to host a two-day training, “Couldn’t Have Said It Better Myself! –The Art of Public Speaking” to explore and enhance attendees’ presentation skills. During this training, attendees will receive expert and peer-to-peer coaching on your public speaking skills.

“The training will be an interactive, informative, and fun way for attendees to improve their skills in public speaking. This type of training is so important for many working professionals, the invaluable knowledge of effective presentation skills applies to almost every industry and position.” says Anne Piacentino, Director of Events and Communications with WSRA.

WSRA is grateful to be working with an expert in the field, Peter Donaldson. Donaldson is a strategic storyteller with over 30 years of experience in performance art, public speaking, curriculum design, community facilitation, and classroom instruction from grade school to college. He is the Director of Sustainability Ambassadors, coaching student leaders, teacher leaders and community leaders to drive collective impact at the intersection between educating for sustainability in the core curriculum, problem-based learning, systems thinking, and measurable improvements in community conditions. Peter wrote and starred in two, one-man shows, The Life and Times of Leonardo da Vinci and Salmon people. In 2009, he was appointed Distinguished Scholar to the Dan Evans Chair for the Liberal Arts at The Evergreen State College where he taught integrated science, policy and humanities courses.  Peter’s focus on strategic storytelling is informed by his passion for coaching youth at the cusp of adulthood, the age of initiation into real-world work.

The two-day training is open to WSRA members, non-members, and students and will be held, February 22-23, 2017 in Tukwila on the first day, and at City Hall of Renton on the second. The City of Renton is graciously hosting our attendees on the second day, so that they can get comfortable speaking in a true “presentation” setting. Participants will have a chance to create an inspiring presentation on their “Best Two Minutes.”
