Lightweight metals leader Alcoa today announced its Top North American Scrap Suppliers for 2015. This marks the 11th consecutive year that Alcoa’s recycling and scrap purchasing group has recognized its best suppliers in key performance criteria, including safety, quality, volume, breadth of supply to multiple locations, and delivery performance. “Partnering with these top scrap suppliers to safely deliver high-quality scrap is a key element to increase recycled content in our products,” said Michael J. Boyle, Alcoa Director of Metal Management. “Aluminum is one of the most recycled materials in the world, with almost 75 percent of the aluminum ever produced still in use today, and it is energy efficient because it only takes 1/20 of the energy to make new metal. Our suppliers are working hand-in-hand with us to increase the use of scrap across Alcoa nationwide.”
