Atlas Organics has acquired its fifth location in Florida since it began a multi-year effort to expand its compost facilities throughout the state in 2021. Atlashas acquired the compost facility in Sarasota, currently operated by 1 Stop Landscape Supply. 1 Stop Landscape Supply has been serving customers in the Sarasota area for the last 20 years and has built a reputation for being a one stop shop for all landscaping needs. Atlas Organics looks forward to continuing with these efforts and the high-quality customer service 1 Stop clients have come to know. Atlaswill also continue the positive relationship with both Manatee and Sarasota County through providing yearly tonnage information to each county for their respective recycling initiatives.

With this latest acquisition Atlas intends to transition away from static pile composting currently used in Sarasota in favor of extended aerated static pile (EASP) composting which Atlas currently uses in their other locations around the country. This change will increase both the quality and quantity of available compost to customers. Atlas looks forward to producing STA (Seal of Testing Assurance) certified compost at this location in the coming months while also offering several types of additional products including mulch, topsoil, sand, and other landscaping supplies.

“We are excited for our continued expansion into the West Florida market. This strategic location will give Atlas Organics the ability to diversify our product offerings and serve our customers in a greater way.” said Joseph McMillin, Atlas Organics CEO. “We look forward to bringing our technology and experience into Sarasota and building lasting partnerships with the many businesses and customers in that region!”

“We believe Atlas Organics will take the 1 Stop team to the next level and we know customers will continue to receive the highest quality level of service they’ve had over the years.” said 1 Stop owner, John Desrosiers. “Atlas is a like-minded company that is committed to improving our communities in the surrounding area!”

Atlas Organics is pleased to be adding the Sarasota location to its additional facilities acquisitions in 2022 in San Antonio, FL, Plant City, FL and Placida FL. These locations are additive to the public-private partnership Atlas entered into with Indian River County in 2021. Through this growth, Atlas Organics is becoming a well-known brand across the state with the capability to process over 300,000 tons of material per year. More customers than ever will have access to Atlas Organics’ high-quality STA certified and in some locations OMRI-listed compost.
