When Baltimore City’s Department of Public Works announced recycling curbside pickup would be suspended for an uncertain amount of time, Midtown Baltimore mobilized. “We are providing a solution that we can kind of squeeze in,” said Nan Rohrer, president of the Midtown Community Benefits District. “Wherever people can be pitching in and helping out one another, it’s really the only way to get the stuff done.”

Starting Thursday at 9 a.m. crews will spend time at various locations where people can drop off items that are recyclable. “What we’re asking people is to go over and above on following the rules,” said Rohrer. “Please do not bring anything in a plastic bag. Please do not bring us your trash. Please do not bring us your yard waste. Bring us your recyclables cleaned out in a cardboard box or in paper bags.”
