With many consumer batteries becoming smaller and more powerful, understanding proper battery practices – including use and disposal – is critical to safeguard people and property against potential safety incidents. Becoming battery safety smart can help consumers avoid the spark.
With support from industry groups devoted to batteries, electronics and power tools, Call2Recycle recently launched a campaign spotlighting ‘hidden dangers’ that can come from improper use, handling, transport and disposal of used consumer batteries. Centered on battery safety education, the ‘Avoid the Spark. Be Battery Safety Smart.’ campaign seeks to make battery safety a shared responsibility that can keep communities and consumers safe.
The growing use of batteries make the campaign timely in terms of spreading knowledge on safe battery practices. It also highlights the role each of us play in keeping things safe throughout the battery journey.
This fall marks the second phase of the campaign, focused on activation and engagement.
