Craven County officials are rolling out a new curbside recycling program. In the next four or five years, residents in Craven County will get new 95 gallon lime green and black rolling recycling carts. The county won’t start using the carts for pick up until October 7th, so residents can keep what they are using until then.

After the 7th, any other container used will not be picked up. The new curbside recycling program with Waste Industries and Green for Life will affect all of Craven County and municipalities except for Bridgeton. Residents who do not want to take part in this program can contact the recycling company to get their roll-cart picked up, but the annual $60 fee will still apply.

These carts will also have an educational portion to it. Each will have a stamp on the lid to explain what is recyclable and what is not. First off, that helps better inform the citizen and second, it is less that has to be sorted later on.
