Curbside recycling appears to be on its way back to Surprise after more than three years without it. City Manager Bob Wingenroth told the Surprise City Council that Public Works Director Kristin Tytler will be coming in front of council at an upcoming meeting to unveil details on recycling’s curbside return. Wingenroth said it likely will be reimplemented in a phased approach.

“It will allow us to implement recycling, while ensuring a successful and responsible program,” Wingenroth told the Council. The city first introduced curbside recycling to some neighborhoods in 2004 before phasing it in throughout the city’s service area. However, in 2019 items in blue cans started going to landfill along with other trash when worldwide recycling market conditions changed.
