The Delaware Solid Waste Authority announces the winners of its 2023 Scholarship Program Awards. Delaware Solid Waste Authority offers two college scholarships to Delaware students studying engineering or other environmental studies programs. The scholarships are presented in memory of two former Delaware Solid Waste Authority Board Members, John P. Healy, and Theodore “Toby” Ryan.
Celia Hoffman, a 2023 Graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, has been selected as the recipient of the John P. Healy Memorial Scholarship. Celia has achievements in academics, athletics, and community involvement. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Celia earned the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete Award. Celia has excelled in both volleyball and tennis. She was selected as a member of the All-State Orchestra. Celia is involved as a member of the Fair Hill Nature Center Board of Directors. Celia will be attending the University of Pittsburgh, where she will major in ecology and evolution.
Victoria Parsons, a 2023 Graduate of Sussex Academy, has been awarded the Theodore “Toby” Ryan Memorial Scholarship for the 2023-2024 academic year. Victoria is a member of the National Honor Society where she was honored as the Philanthropy Award Winner in both 2022 and 2023.
