Friends, students and colleagues gathered Wednesday, June 13, to bid farewell to Eileen Zubrowski, retiring from the Waltham Consolidated Public Works department, where she has worked for more than 20 years.
As the city’s recycling coordinator, Zubrowski, who holds a masters degree in environmental studies, was charged with educating the public about proper ways to manage garbage, yard waste and hazardous waste, and implemented the city’s recycling programs.
Director of the CPW Michael Chiasson and Assistant Director Stew LaCrosse, and colleagues Janice Deveney and Sarah Kelley celebrated with Zubrowski. Councilor Bill Fowler, Purchasing Agent Joe Pedulla, Laura Doane, business manager with the auditing department and Lori Cotoni from the street division of the CPW also came by to wish Zubrowski well, and thank her for her many years of service. Additionally, former and current interns took time off from school and work to say goodbye to Zubrowski for her mentorship.
