FCC Environmental Services announces the award of the solid waste collection contract for the City of New Smyrna Beach, FL, providing residential and commercial collection services throughout the city. The contract was approved by the New Smyrna Beach City Commission on May 26, 2026, and executed with city staff on June 29, 2026.

The agreement will commence on October 1, 2026, with an initial term of 10 years and one optional 10-year extension. The contract adds approximately $88 million to FCC Environmental Services’ contracted backlog and further strengthens the company’s presence in Volusia County, where FCC currently provides residential and commercial solid waste collection services in neighboring communities.

Under the agreement, FCC Environmental Services will provide residential solid waste and yard waste collection, and commercial solid waste collection services in New Smyrna Beach. Residential customers will receive two weekly solid waste collection days and one weekly yard waste collection day, while commercial customers will receive solid waste collection services tailored to their business needs.

To support the transition and deliver reliable service from day one, FCC Environmental Services anticipates employing nearly 40 personnel dedicated to the New Smyrna Beach operation. The company will deploy more than 20 collection vehicles and will invest in new carts and containers for residential and commercial customers.

“This award reflects our commitment to delivering safe, reliable and customer-focused environmental services,” said Carlos Puebla Hermida, Chief Operating Officer. “We appreciate the confidence the City of New Smyrna Beach has placed in FCC Environmental Services and look forward to building a strong partnership with residents and city leaders. Our team is committed to providing high-quality service while supporting the community’s long-term environmental goals.”
