Adam Beeson
Operations Manager
Atlas Disposal Industries in Sacramento, CA

How long have you been in the industry? 25 years
How did you get involved? What was your first job? I started hauling construction debris, end dump and roll-off and moved to solid waste in 1998.
Who/What was your biggest influence?: My Dad and an old boss of mine often said, all you can do is your best and integrity is what you do when nobody is watching. This company has given me the opportunity to practice that and pass it on.
What has been your most unique/interesting experience over the years?: Community service work with the City and County of Sacramento. Providing equipment and service for neighborhood cleanup programs all over our county. I really enjoy seeing the turnout when several city blocks of cars and trucks line up for the opportunity to clean up the area.
What do you see as the biggest challenges to the industry today?:
The marketplace in regards to recyclables. Just a few months ago customers were getting rebates for mixed recycle; today, there is processing fee, and often it can be higher than a disposal fee at the local landfill. Recycling the material is still required and it is the right thing to do; keeping it green has become more challenging.
What do you like most about being in the industry/your job?:
The team we have assembled and the equipment we have onsite has made us the largest independent in the area. We have become the go-to hauler for some of the largest companies in the region. I really enjoy helping our smaller contractors or home owners that may need a solution for their unique service needs.
Hobbies: Family and friends.
Last vacation: The total eclipse, Wyoming.
Words to live by: Don’t work to live or live to work, find something in the middle.
