GeesinkNorba Nordic is a leading supplier of a wide range of waste collection and waste transportation equipment across the Nordic region. Norway is a buoyant market and this is due to the hard work and commitment of Geesinknorba Nordic’s representative for Norway, Gunnar Alstad. Gunnar has worked for GeesinkNorba Nordic for six years and, before that, was working for Geesinknorba’s Norway agent for two years. He has been responsible for sales of new waste collection and waste transfer equipment across the Norwegian market during this time and has built up much knowledge and experience with his customer base over this period.

The Norwegion customer base is made up of both public and private contractors and Gunnar sells on average forty units a year. The overall market for waste collection/waste transfer vehicles sold across Norway is approximately 120 units a year so Gunnar has a good 33% share of the market. The market has a mixed requirement for a wide range of waste collection vehicles. Gunnar sells GeesinkNorba’s G, N and MF Series split fraction units to this market in a wide variety of capacities and chassis configurations. Some of the MF Series units are fitted with the MF50 pod particular good for bio and glass waste. Units from the Rossi satellite waste collection vehicle range, such as the QUBE and the R300, are also sold to this market along with the Kiggen portable compactor and the Gergen skip and hook loader range.

Gunnar’s vision for the future of the Norwegian market is to supply more electrical hybrid units. Two GeesinkNorba GPM Mini 7m³ 0720 LI-On Power units have recently been delivered to customers BIR Transport AS, which collects and manages waste in the city of Bergen-Norway-as well as to Renovasjonen IKS which collects and manages waste across the city of Stavanger. The units are fitted with Geesinknorba’s GCB series comb type bin lifting equipment which can lift containers from 120-1100 litres capacities DIN 30740. These units also have dynamic bin weighing systems fitted to them. The chassis upon which these units have been mounted are both DAF LF.220 4×2 12 tonne chassis which have been converted by EMOSS Mobile Systems BV from conventional Euro 6 diesel power to battery power. Gunnar believes that 100% electrical waste collection units in conjunction with a battery-and Hydrogen powered chassis are the future of the market because it helps municipalities meet their green credentials in reducing vehicle emissions-an important factor when collecting waste and recyclables inside city centers.

The future looks bright for the sales and supply of further GeesinkNorba units across the Norwegian market. Due for delivery shortly are two G Series rear loading units complete with GAC industrial skip lifting equipment as well as eight-nine N3 Series units. Three KT1 units, fitted with a crane mounted between the chassis cab and body for the emptying of underground waste containers, are also due for delivery soon. One of these units will also be fitted with an integrated bin washing system. Twelve-fifteen MF Series split fraction units for the collection of dry mixed recyclables and biowaste are also on order along with two Rossi satellite units, one QUBE unit and one R300 unit build for glass collection. These recent sales successes are underpinned with GeesinkNorba Nordic supplying the majority of the waste collection vehicles operated by public and private contractors across the northern part of the country. These units consist of a mixture of N3 and MF Series units. Gunnar works in conjunction with a local chassis dealers in supplying these units to the northern region of Norway. A smaller Hybrid Rossi QUBE unit has also been supplied in this region.

Gunnar also sells second hand GeesinkNorba units into Norway in conjunction with Clean Mat Trucks BVwho have a subsidiary company in the Nordic region called Clean Mat Trucks Nordic AB. To date, Gunnar has sold one KT1 unit and six MF Series units from Clean Mat Nordic’s waste collection vehicle hire fleet.

After sales and service is key to selling waste collection vehicles across the Norwegian market, with customers saying that, ‘the salesmen sells the first unit and after sales sell the rest’. Gunnar also manages customers after sales and service and is the interface between customers contacting GeesinkNorba Nordic’s installation and sales and service facility in Kalmar. Quick fix kits are despatched from Kalmar on the delivery of each new vehicle into the market so that vehicles can be kept on the road to prevent operational downtime. When parts are used out of the kits, they can be replenished with replacement parts within 24 hours by Geesinknorba Kalmar once they have been notified by the customer.

In conclusion, Gunnar is doing an excellent job in representing GeesinkNorba Nordic’s waste collection and waste transfer equipment product range across the Norwegian market. He is well supported by his colleagues at Kalmar in assisting with bids and quotations for the supply of new units to suit the market’s requirements as well as providing a first class parts and after-sales service across his client base too.
