For the second consecutive year, the Maryland Environmental Service (MES) has been awarded a Top Workplaces honor by The Baltimore Sun. The award is based entirely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by employee engagement technology partner Energage, LLC. The confidential survey uniquely measured 15 culture drivers critical to the success of any organization.

“We are pleased that our incredible team responded so positively to the survey. MES has been listening to our employees and doing our best to make continuous improvements to the overall employee experience, with a primary emphasis on the safety of our workforce,” said Dr. Charles Glass, Executive Director. We have also developed a strong strategic plan with attainable and measurable goals, along with career ladders that show clear paths to success for our team members.”

MES plays a vital role in furthering the State of Maryland’s dedication to environmental protection and meeting State environmental goals. With its distinctive organizational framework, the agency excels in addressing environmental issues and remains at the forefront of advancements in environmental science.

MES has over 800 employees, comprised of a central team of 200 operating from a Millersville headquarters, and approximately 600 employees working at field sites on diverse projects across the State, in service areas such as environmental dredging and restoration, solid waste, water and wastewater, stormwater management, geospatial and engineering projects, and renewable energy.
