Maryland Environmental Service (MES) today named Michael Harris as Treasurer of the MES Board of Directors. With the concurrence of Governor Larry Hogan, Mr. Harris was selected for the position by MES Board of Director’s Chairman Roy McGrath.

“Mike is a great addition to the MES Board. He has already demonstrated himself to be an asset to the State and our critical work enhancing Maryland’s environment,” said Mr. McGrath. “Our 800 teammates and the many stakeholders we serve across the Mid-Atlantic Region will benefit from Mike’s expertise and his proven ability to deliver strong financial leadership,” he added.

“I thank Governor Hogan and Roy McGrath for this wonderful opportunity to serve the citizens of Maryland, I am truly honored by the appointment,” said Mr. Harris. “MES does so much needed and innovative environmental work. I’m looking forward to making a contribution to this important mission through the MES Board of Directors,” he said.

Mr. Harris currently serves as MES Managing Director of Finance. He is responsible for finance, accounting, fleet, internal controls, and overall execution of the financial planning and analysis activities of the agency. In his previous role, Mr. Harris served as Director of Finance for a not-for-profit organization, which provided mental health services. He is a member of the Maryland Government Finance Officers Association and Greater Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants.
