The National Waste & Recycling Association today announced that Tiffany Jones has joined the association as NW&RA’s new director of certification, where she will continue development of current certification efforts and create new ones. “This moves us forward as an association,” Kneiss said. “The certification process she is spearheading should help us establish a leadership position in promoting safety and providing quality education for key aspects of industry performance.”

NW&RA launched its first certification effort, Certified Safe Drivers, for recycling and garbage truck drivers in June. Future certification programs may include those for front-line supervisors; facilities, such as material recovery facilities (MRFs); or processes, such as recycling.

Jones has more than seven years of experience in training and certification and has executed numerous certification programs from start to finish. She most recently worked as the product manager for training and certification at DecisionHealth in Gaithersburg, Maryland, directing development, launch and implementation of 21 new online training courses. She advanced to that position after serving the company as director for online training and certification and as assistant director of certification, and has previously held positions as a client manager, a Web producer and an editor. “NW&RA leaders recognize the value of certification to validate the knowledge, skills and ability of their members, and I am happy and excited to be a part of such an important part of the association’s offerings by creating a legally defensible and industry-recognized certification programs,” Jones said.
