New York Assembly member Pat Fahy (D) proposed more than half a dozen bills aimed at cutting down on plastic use and reduce emissions through the use of electric vehicles. Fahy says that if these pass, they reduce the carbon footprint used by plastic and to make transportation more electric-based throughout the state. She’s proposed seven bills in total.

One would require all single use plastic bottles be made completely with recycled materials by 2025. Another bill would require single use beverage containers be manufactured with 75 percent recycled material. The other bills center towards electric vehicles. One of them would allow the commissioner of energy to create new regulations that would cut down on carbon emissions for vehicles used by government agencies. The bill would require all vehicles in public agencies be zero emission models.
